In December 2021 Morecambe Chapter No 1561 celebrated its centenary, attended by Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, accompanied by Deputy Grand Superintendent Paul Renton, second and third Provincial Grand Principals Chris Butterfield and Rev Canon Godfrey Hirst.
Grand officers present included Peter Taylor, Peter Mason and Keith Kemp. The following acting Provincial grand officers in attendance were Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals David Barr, Harry Chatfield, David Thomas, Scott Devine, Barry Fitzgerald, Anthony Hill, John Stansfield, David Tattersall, Gavin Egan, Barrie Crossley, Paul Broadley, Craig Foster, Alan Hilton, Chris Brown and along with Peter Whaley and George Fox.
Morecambe Chapter’s first principal Stuart Bateson, second principal Geoff Wilman and acting third principal John Bates offered their sceptres to the Provincial Grand Principals who accepted them before taking their seats.
Grand Superintendent Tony gave a brief outline of the history of Morecambe Chapter and events that took place in Morecambe over the past 100 years of the chapter’s history, which was followed by an oration by third Provincial Grand Principal Godfrey Hirst.
Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra Peter Taylor read out the Morecambe Centenary Charter which gave permission to all subscribing companions of the chapter to wear a Centenary Royal Arch Jewel. The charter was presented to Stuart Bateson.
Morecambe chapter first principal Stuart Bateson presented Tony with a £1,000 cheque for Masonic Charities, after which the chapter was closed.
