So the jubilee weekend has passed and gone. Lever Park Lodge No 8144 managed to get the last of the good weather for its annual bowling competition at St Paul’s Adlington. Over 70 members and their friends and family joined in for a full day of bowling, buffet and beverage!
In a closely fought final, Peter Schofield and Alison English were the winning pair. Runners up were newcomers Gill Whittle and Matthew Dainty.
A new trophy was presented this year in remembrance of a much-loved member of the lodge who passed away last year. The Adrian Butterworth Trophy was presented to the best junior bowler of the day. The worthy winner was Niamh Wilkinson aged 10.
After a traditional buffet, the jubilee cake competition winner was announced as Susan Liles who created a magnificent sherry laced trifle.
Then came the raffle draw! Numerous prizes had been donated by the members and friends. The draw was conducted in a pacey fashion by the secretary and WM as the sun dipped below the bowling green. A fantastic day was had by all with a little over £430 raised for charities.
