Master of the lodge Peter Hannis, his wife Susan and the brethren, ladies and friends of Lever Park Lodge No 8144 held their annual bowling day at St Pauls Club, Railway Road, Adlington and despite the inclement weather a superb time was had by all!
Peter and Susan hosted the first occasion in what is rapidly becoming a very hectic and much sought after social events programme.
Harry McGarr was his usual effervescent self and despite his best efforts in trying to ruin the bowling green he actually managed to skip 10 times, without the use of a safety net, to raise in excess of £30 for his partner Bev’s charity walk later in the year.
Eventually the winners of the bowling competition were Geoff Gorner and Emily Butterworth with Derek English and Janet Butterworth finishing as runners-up. This is the second year running that the Butterworth clan have been involved in the prizes!
The day has now become enshrined in the Lever Park Lodge calendar and was originally started many years ago by Richard Parkinson, who has been a member of the bowling club for a number of years.
A generous buffet was enjoyed by all the participants after the event and a raffle, under the skilled mastership of Peter, raised in excess of £250 for the benefit of good causes that will be announced at a later date.
At the end of the day all agreed that they had been bowled over by the proceedings.
