The last link in the chain was also the final presentation of “The Link in the Chain”. Number twenty one. The tour of every group of lodges and chapters in the province, commenced in January 2017.
The team, led by Provincial Grand Almoner Ernie Greenhalgh, has been at the forefront of developing and implementing a revised care system within our Province that has now been adopted as a national model by the Masonic Charitable Foundation and will be implemented in all other Provinces in the near future.
Ernie has undertaking a series of presentations throughout the Province, entitled ‘The link in the chain’ to explain to almoners how they can more easily access help for widows, members and their dependents.
The Gladstone Group lodge and chapter almoner’s gathered at The Artist Club where some partook in a meal prior to the presentation. Derek Elston, Local Pastoral Officer, introduced Ernie who proceeded to give a PowerPoint Presentation which also included video footage of grateful recipients of various grants. Ernie also introduced Eric Hart, who is to succeed Ernie as Provincial Almoner following the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge in May.
The meeting concluded with a Q and A session which gave those present an opportunity to clarify individual points. Everyone present also received an information pack. It was clear that the care structure within the four main charities will now be administered more smoothly and claims dealt with much quicker, in most cases within two weeks. At the close of the presentation, Bill Culshaw thanked the Almoners and their representatives, for attending and making the evening a success.
If any Almoner within the province has not been able to attend one of the presentations, there will be a chance to catch up when Ernie “mops up” at an end of tour presentation in Leyland.
