On a cold November night, it was gratifying for visitors and members to know that they were assured of a warm welcome at the installation meeting of Royal George Chapter No 4119 held at Garston Masonic Hall.
The meeting was opened by first principal Paul Moore and after conducting their domestic business, which included a ballot for two joining members and a candidate for exaltation, the principal guest Kevin Poynton representing the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison, was admitted and welcomed.
Kevin was accompanied by fellow grand officer David Hawkes, group chairman John Murphy, vice chairman David Atkinson, group secretary Gary Mason and the group Royal Arch mentor Wyn Jones.
The installation ceremony then proceeded and the new team of David Boyes as first principal, John Davies as second principal and Bill Shuker as third principal were duly installed in a very accomplished, warm and sincere manner.
David then appointed and invested his officers which included the two new joining members, Phil Brown and Alan Jenkins as stewards, much to their pleasant surprise.
Following the meeting the companions retired to the dining room where they enjoyed an excellent festive board.
Royal George Chapter is a small and very friendly chapter that has experienced some lean times in recent years and were at risk of closing. However, a concerted effort to promote the chapter has proven successful with a number of joining members and candidates in the pipeline which will ensure that the new team will be kept busy.
Kevin, when responding to the toast to his health, congratulated the chapter companions on securing their future by attracting new members and candidates and promoting the benefits of membership of the Royal Arch
Towards the end of the festive board a raffle was held and guess who won the main prize, yes, Kevin!
