On the day they say winter begins, the WM David Smith of Standish Lodge No 4955 opened the lodge meeting with his regular officers. But this was not any regular meeting. The brethren had assembled to celebrate James Kerr Edwards’ 50 years in the Craft.

James (or Kerr as he is more affectionately known) was initiated into Euxton Lodge No 7192 in 1972 before joining Standish Lodge in 2000, in which he continues to regularly attend meetings and although Kerr had requested an informal ceremony, after a short introduction, the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Vice Chairman Derek Midgley was delighted to read and present the commemorative certificate to him.
An excellent festive board was enjoyed by all present at which an engraved glass clock, donated by the brethren of Standish Lodge, was presented to Kerr by the WM David Smith. Kerr suitably responded and thanked the brethren and guests for making the evening a very memorable occasion.
