The brethren and friends of Townley Parker Lodge No 1032 gathered to celebrate the installation of John Turner into the chair of King Solomon.
The brethren were honoured by the presence of Stuart Thornber representing the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison. Stuart was accompanied by Chorley Group Chairman Peter Lockett, group secretary Don Hesketh and acting Provincial grand officer Derek Robinson.
Simon Dalley opened the lodge and conducted the necessary business. Eddie Webster then presented John Turner as master elect. Simon then proceeded to install John into the chair of King Solomon in a very fine ceremony. The working tools in the third, second and first degrees were presented by Joe Kawalski, Don Band and Simon Brooks respectively.
The address to the master was presented by Eddie Webster, the address to the wardens was delivered by Richard Higson and the address to the brethren was presented by Stuart Thornber, all under the watchful eye of director of ceremonies Peter Leigh and assistant director of ceremonies Mike Seager.
Stuart Thornber brought the greetings and good wishes from the Provincial Grand Master and congratulated John Turner on becoming the latest ruler in the Craft for the fourth time. He also congratulated Simon Dalley on a fine installation ceremony, especially since Simon had stepped into the breach with only 10 days notice.
Stuart thanked the brethren for their very generous donations to good causes of £500 to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival, £500 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and £550 to the Chorley Masonic Hall.
The brethren retired to the festive board for a convivial evening of good wine, good food and very good company. The master’s song was sung by Mike Seager, accompanied by Dougie Little.
