The brethren of Crosby Lodge No 3714 were delighted to have Assistant Provincial Grand Master Tony Bent as their principle guest at the installation of Joseph Williams. Tony was accompanied by Bootle Group Vice Chairman John Marsden and grand officers Ron Elliott, Trevor Rimmer, John Marsden and Peter Levick.
Joe was presented to the worshipful master Stephen Garland by Graham Chambers before Stephen performed an excellent installation ceremony in front of 24 members and 28 guests.
Although this is the first time that Joe has been installed in the chair of King Solomon in Crosby Lodge, he is no stranger to it, having been installed as WM in other lodges.
The third degree tools were presented by Eric Moran, the second degree tools by Malcolm Keen and the first degree tools by Dave Hughes. Joe then appointed his officers for the ensuing year. Ray Barrow, Bootle Group Secretary, gave the address to the WM, whilst Tony gave the address to the brethren of the lodge.
On conclusion of the ceremony Tony conveyed the best wishes of the Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, he also thanked the members for the wonderful work they had carried out during the ceremony.
Joe then had the pleasant duty of presenting cheques to Tony on behalf of the members of the lodge. They comprised of; £700 to Bootle Masonic Hall, £200 to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity, £200 to the Friends of Tithebarn, £100 to Macmillan Support and £200 to purchase food for the food-bank donations that the Bootle Group donates to the local food-banks. This was an initiative started by Bootle Group Chairman Ian Gee, which has proven to be very successful. All members of the Bootle Group are encouraged to buy just one extra item of none perishable food and to leave it with the bar staff.
Following the ceremony the festive board was enjoyed by all. On conclusion of the evening, Joe thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home
