Fred Wright PJGD of Eureka Lodge No 3763 was the Group Almoner for Bootle Group. His son Stuart Wright, who works for the Liverpool Charity Help Finder, contacted Joe Williams of Croxteth United Service Lodge No 786 about the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and asked if Tithebarn Care Home would be interested in some for free.

Contact was made with Tithebarn Home Manager Linda Johnson to see if the PPE was required and that it was also of the correct standard and quality. After assurances, Stuart arrived with a van load of PPE, along with Fred who presented the masks and gowns to Linda and Tithebarn Deputy Home Manager Sue Burke who gladly accepted the consignment.
Help Finder was formed in 2019 and was involved in the bulk buying of PPE for the NHS, hospices, care homes and high-risk Individuals and are working with multi £1,000,000 orders to make sure the PPE goes to the correct people.
Amid all the fear and confusion during the coronavirus out-break, there has been positive support by the teams, including procuring on behalf of a number of large NHS PPE fundraisers.
Don Welch, one of the residents of Tithebarn during lockdown celebrated his 99th birthday and was presented with a cake – unfortunately there was only enough room for three candles!
