Group members and their families walk the walk

On a glorious summers day with plenty of sparkling sunshine, this year’s annual sponsored group walk, hosted by St Michaels on Wyre Lodge No 8348, saw 16 walkers, accompanied by two children and three very well-behaved dogs, meet at Wyreside, Garstang, before setting off on a choice of two walks.

The choice of walks, organised by John Holmes and Bernard Snape, involved either a short walk, perfect for all abilities, or a much longer trek taking in the open countryside around Garstang.

Both walks ended up back at Wyreside, where Alan Procter of Silverdale Lodge No 6926, provided an amazing barbeque for all the walkers on their return.

A raffle at the barbeque raised over £80 for charity, with Peter Pemberton of St Michaels on Wyre Lodge winning the first prize.

A great day was had by all, which even allowed for those football fans amongst them to watch the game between Panama and England, which as you know England won with a record score.

Lancaster and District Group Chairman Neil McGill, whom not only participated, but was one of the quickest people to cover the walk, thanked the walkers for their efforts and expressed his gratitude to the members of St Michaels on Wyre Lodge for hosting another successful walk.
