Ray Martland, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, was delighted to attend Hindley Masonic Hall to be the principal guest at the installation ceremony of Borsdane Lodge No 6460. Ray was accompanied by fellow grand officers, group chairman Malcolm Taylor, Ken Shaw and David Ogden and supported by acting Provincial officers Tony Simms, David Hargreaves, Eric Bailey, Ken Wilson and Ray Modlin. Also present were group officers Geoffrey Porter and Stewart Blagg.
Nearly 50 brethren were there to witness the installation of George Seddon into the WM’s chair, in what was something of a family affair. Doing a fine job as installing master was George’s nephew Paul Roper, after his proposer into Masonry, Roy Books, had presented him. Paul was ably assisted in the ceremony by a number of brethren, Albert Williams, who gave the address to the new WM, Phil Dobson who gave the address to the wardens, Ray Books and junior brethren Paul Foster and Graham Greenhall who did a fine job in delivering the working tools. Graham had only been admitted as a re-joining member just before the installation ceremony started, immediately involving himself in the work and then being invested as junior warden.
Ray congratulated George on attaining the chair and Paul on installing him in such a fine way. In response George was delighted to present Ray with charitable donations totalling £1,700, consisting of £1,000 to Hindley Masonic Hall, £600 to West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and £100 to Prostate Cancer Research.
