What is the Cavendish Club?
The overarching aim of the club is to facilitate social interaction between new, junior and experienced freemasons who have not yet received provincial rank. In order to achieve this, the club promotes visiting and working with lodges across the Furness and South Lakeland peninsula. In promoting the values of freemasonry, the club is keen to encourage and support new members to become fully involved in this worthwhile and rewarding community.
There are no costs associated with joining The Cavendish Club. However, a bespoke Cavendish Club pin badge is available from any of the officers at a cost of £5.
Since the formation of the club, the members have attended some extremely positive and enjoyable events. In the summer of 2019, the club sponsored two corporate days at Lindal Moor Cricket Club where an eight-a-side team enjoyed good company and a great game of cricket despite picking up the wooden spoon award!
In April and June 2019, 10 members of the club attended Barrow Rugby League where they enjoyed the facilities provided by the Schofield Construction hospitality box, courtesy of the group chairman Peter Schofield, as well as two great games of rugby. On Sunday 8 April 2018 a trip to Hawkshead Brewery was a very informative and enjoyable day for all who attended. In September 2018 and 2019 the club journeyed to Chester Races to enjoy a fun day of socialising and healthy competitive wagering. In May 2019, the club was also able to enter Team Cavendish into the Coniston to Barrow sponsored walk, raising money for worthy local charities.
There many future events planned : Further sponsor days at Lindal Moor Cricket Club, Furness Rugby Union Club, Barrow Football Club and, once again, Barrow Rugby League Club.
In the summer months, there will be a trip to the Lancaster Brewery for a tour. In addition, there will be events to support Stewards’ Lodges within our group, where new members are welcomed and supported.
Further information about planned events can be found on the Cavendish Club Facebook page or on the website. Further suggestions for events and trips are welcomed by all members.
Please do join The Cavendish Club at the earliest opportunity and if you have any ideas, questions or other suggestions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of the officers or your lodge representative.
