In December 2022, Lancaster Group Chairman Neil McGill, Foodbank Appeal Organiser Mike Craddock, together with Mike Ashton, Ian Coates and Gareth Harrison handed over foodstuffs and toiletries along with a magnificent cheque for £5,170 to representatives of Morecambe Bay Foodbank.
Donations of cash are still arriving, and the total is expected to exceed £5,500, the balance which will be sent as an additional cheque.
In November, Morecambe Bay Foodbank delivered food boxes to 249 households with 640 people between them. This comprised 376 adults, 172 children aged over four years and 92 children aged under four years old.
The numbers in December have increased and higher numbers are expected in January. Households in December have been getting, in addition to the normal food box, Christmas bags containing chocolate biscuits, tins of ham, selection boxes and other treats. The number of Christmas bags is determined by the size of the family.
