O’Brien’s Tea Rooms at Ormskirk Masonic Hall was once again the venue for the Ormskirk Ladies Group Sunday lunch. With sunshine streaming through the windows, 50 members, family and friends came together to enjoy a delightful three course meal which has become one of the highlights of the yearly calendar.
The dining room tables were enhanced by floral tributes which added elegance to the occasion. Diane Hampson, chairperson, welcomed and thanked everyone for supporting the event and wished them a pleasant afternoon.
Gary had once again excelled his culinary skills providing a varied menu with choices from garlic mushrooms, smoked haddock, pear and walnut salad and for the main course roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, pork medallions, salmon or roast chicken, followed by tempting desserts including crème brûlée, banoffee tart, cheesecake or fresh fruit salad.
The ladies group are very much enjoying being back at the Masonic Hall and are looking forward to a packed social calendar following their annual general meeting in April. Some of the delights to come include a talk on the streets of Liverpool by Ken Pye, a visit by Graham and Janet Walton, the parents of the sextuplets, ‘Mrs Maude’s Wardrobe’ – an informative talk on underwear down the ages, and a speaker from the North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes, amongst others.
During the afternoon a raffle raised the magnificent amount of £140 for charitable good causes. Diane thanked Erica Johnson and Barbara Westby for organising the raffle, the members for donating the prizes and husband Ray for the table plans. Diane concluded by thanking Gary and his staff for their excellent service. She also took the opportunity of congratulating Barbara and Derek Westby on their golden wedding anniversary which brought an enthusiastic round of applause from everyone.
