Flowers on Mother’s Day at Tithebarn

Youth and exuberance were in abundance as members of Tithebarn Lodge No 8446 gathered to make Mother’s Day a memorable occasion at Poulton Masonic Hall. Over 50 members, mothers and guests sat down to an excellent roast lamb lunch.

There were children of all ages hiding in corners and there were many time honoured hand signals to say: “Your little one is sitting in this corner.”

The event was opened by director of ceremonies Shaun Keane who welcomed everyone to the event and thanked them for their support. He also thanked Lee Monro of Square and Compass Catering for laying on a fine feast of vegetable soup, roast lamb and brandy-snap baskets.

During the proceedings, lodge charity steward Ken Greenwood and social secretary Grahame Whattam circulated and sold raffle tickets and raised £175 for various charities. The first prize, which was a litre bottle of Bacardi, was won by Wally and Jean Tyres There were several other prizes going to many happy winners.

Before retiring every mother present received a pretty plant to adorn a sideboard or mantle for the summer to come.
