Ernie occupies the chair again

David Durling, Chairman of the South Eastern Group was the principle guest of Border Lodge of Installed Masters No 9274 installation meeting held at Swinton Masonic Hall. David was accompanied by grand officers, David McCormick, Tony Edden and Brian Everall. Also in attendance were Eccles and District Group Chairman Stuart Boyd and acting Provincial Grand Steward David Marlor.

The WM Brian Meadows welcomed David and his team and thanked them for their attendance. Master elect, Ernest Lloyd was presented to installing master Brian for the benefit of installation. The ceremony was carried out by Brian ably assisted by his installing officers.

The third degree working tools were presented by Brian Pearson, the second degree working tools by Mel Lomax and the first degree working tools by Bob Huddleston. Peter Whalley gave the address to the master, Alan Brown to the address to the wardens and David Durling gave the address to the brethren of the lodge.

As is true to Border Lodge, the installation was done with great sentiment as well as some humour and enjoyment by all there.

David congratulated Ernie on taking the chair and Brian for the way in which he had installed Ernie. Ernie presented David with a cheque in the sum of £200 made out to the MCF 2021 Festival.

At the festive board, in his response to the toast to the grand officers, David wished Ernie good health for the coming year and that he thought the work in the lodge was excellent.

David referred to the festival and encouraged all to invest in a festival jewel and to wear with pride in celebration of 300 years of Freemasonry.

David congratulated Tony Edden and his team on the wonderful work that they had done on Swinton Masonic Hall expressing that it was an example to all to look after our halls.

He also conveyed the message from the Provincial Grand Master tony Harrison that we should continue to enjoy our Freemasonry. In conclusion, David thanked the lodge for their hospitality and for making him feel very welcome.
