In this year of strange times, members of Eccleston Lodge No 7754 have met regularly throughout the past year like so many other lodges, via the use of Zoom meetings. Also members of the lodge have regularly donated to local charities along the way including a generous donation towards the West Lancashire Food Bank Appeal supporting the Chorley and Leyland Group initiative.

During one of the recent Zoom meetings, Andy Sumner suggested that with Easter approaching it might be good for the lodge to donate some chocolate Easter eggs to the local community in Leyland. The idea was well received and everyone was in support. The eggs on this occasion would be taken to support the Wade Hall Community Association in Leyland.
An egg collection began with members donating a significant amount of chocolate, along with the inevitable attempts at witty egg jokes and the camaraderie that only lodge members could get away with. The lodge charity steward John Anderson, assisted with the arrangements for collection from the brethren and of course liaised with Joan Musker at the Wade Hall Community centre to ensure their safe delivery.
Once the eggs were delivered, and following a lengthy socially distanced chat, John and Andy left in good spirits knowing they had done their part on behalf of the lodge and the community.
The Wade Hall Community Association is a not for profit community hub based in Leyland at The Place, Wade Hall Community Centre. Given that they are the hub of the community, the centre is thriving with locals popping in for a chat, collecting food or by participating in social activities and events.
