DKW Cup goes over the hills

The Universities Scheme Travelling Loving Cup, the DKW Cup, was presented to the Scheme by David Kenneth Williamson Past Assistant Grand Master, Founder President of the Universities Scheme, on his retirement as President at the Scheme Conference on Saturday 7 November 2015.

The aim of the DKW Cup is to encourage inter-visiting between ‘Universities Scheme lodges’ and further our goals of fraternity and togetherness.

The Cup can be claimed by any visiting Scheme lodge with four or more of its members present at a meeting of the lodge currently holding the cup.

It was at the recent meeting of University Lodge of Liverpool No 4274, current holders of the cup, that a raiding party from over the Pennines in the form of eight members of Aurora Lodge No 4047 came to claim the DKW Cup.

After witnessing an initiation ceremony, members and guests retired to the festive board.

It was here that the ‘DKW Loving Cup’ made one final pass around all present at the festive board before being passed over to its new “temporary” owners from Leeds.

Everyone present expressed their delight at how well the evening, and visit from Aurora Lodge had gone. It was with misty eyes that the red rose had to concede to the white rose, but thanks and congratulations were extended to the members of Aurora Lodge for their very successful fraternal visit.
