Diesel leads the way at annual fund raiser

Once again Ken Hives ordered wall to wall sunshine for the annual fund raising walk in aid of the Ormskirk Masonic Hall Building Appeal Fund. Members, family and friends came together to walk the five kilometres from The Dog and Gun Inn, Aughton to Ormskirk Masonic Hall and back again.

The walk got underway on this occasion led by a sleek four footed canine with the distinctive name of Diesel, accompanied by his owners Derek and Sarah Gibson in tow. Also along to give their support was Frank Umbers (Ormskirk Group Chairman), Malcolm Alexander (group secretary) and 18 keen supporters.

Welcome liquid refreshments were waiting for all at a packed Masonic Hall and after quenching their thirsts set off for the return journey where the landlord Mike Barker had catered for the tired and hungry walkers by providing tasty chip butties.

Ken wishes to pass on his appreciation to all who participated or have donated to this worthy cause and has said that any further donations be forwarded to him as soon as possible so the final total can be announced.

The good news is that in previous years this event has raised considerable amounts of money for the continued refurbishment of the hall. Ken said that this vital work cannot continue without the support of donations from lodges, chapters and individual members.
