Over 50 companions and guests of Anchorsholme Royal Arch Chapter No 5854 were delighted to receive Stuart Thornber as principal guest at its installation convocation at Cleveleys Masonic Hall. Stuart was accompanied by Terry Hudson, Harry Cox, Keith Jackson, North Fylde Group Chairman Duncan Smith and vice chairman Peter Greathead, together with acting Provincial officers Martin Linton, Paul Astley, Gowan O’Hagan and Ron Strangwick.
The chapter was opened for business by first principal Umesh Dholakia, second principal David Britton and third principal James Rashid. The three principals elect were presented in turn by the director of ceremonies Tony Hough, with David Britton being installed as first principal, James Rashid as second principal, and the evergreen Steve Clarke as third principal.
A dentist by profession, David looked pleased to be ‘filling’ his role for the coming year and showed no ‘nerves’ during the ceremony. He had clearly ‘brushed’ up on his ritual and the chapter will no doubt benefit from his ‘wisdom’.
The robe addresses were delivered in an excellent manner by John Piches, Geoff Diggles and Peter Nutland. A faultless address to the three principals was given by John Chesters and the officers of the chapter were invested. Finally, Stuart Thornber delivered the address to the companions of the chapter.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Stuart Thornber rose to bring greetings to the chapter on behalf of the Grand Superintendent and congratulated all who had taken part. He was pleased to receive cheques to the total value of £1,150, including £900 to the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival.
The companions retired to a wonderful festive board, at which the raffle raised £203. Umesh Dholakia proposed the toast to the health of the principals and the song to the three principals was rendered by John Chesters.
At the conclusion of a splendid evening the janitor’s toast was given by Peter Tebbs.
