The members of Crosby Lodge No 3714 recently met at the Bootle Cricket Club with their families and many friends to enjoy their annual Ladies Night. The evening commenced with the WM Marks Sands and his wife Val warmly welcoming the lodge members and guests to the evening as they arrived.
The proceedings were in the very capable hands of lodge DC, Graham Chambers, who asked everyone to take their places at the tables and be upstanding to welcome the WM and his guests. Once Mark and his wife had taken their places, Graham called upon Peter Kelly a member of Bootle Pilgrim Lodge No 1473 to say grace and this was followed with the meal being served shortly afterwards.
The menu for the evening started with a carrot and coriander soup for the first course; which was then followed by roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables, roast and boiled potatoes and for dessert apple pie and cream, finishing with tea or coffee and mints being served.
Once the meal was over, and the dishes cleared from the tables, Graham asked Freddie Wright, a member from Eureka Lodge No 3763, to return thanks; which was shortly followed by the loyal toast given by Mark.
Graham then called upon Tom Croll to present the toast to the ladies. His toast was warm, sincere and had a little bit of humour included. This toast was followed with the ladies song, magnificently sung by Don Fraser, also a member from Eureka Lodge, who on this occasion performed the song without any musical accompaniment. Once Don had finished singing the brethren from the lodge handed each of the ladies a single red rose.
After a short break, Graham introduced the entertainment for the evening, a band called ‘Inunison’ who played a good mix of popular songs from the 1960’s to the 1980’s; which included a few Motown hits with many couples getting up to dance throughout their musical performance.
During the evening a raffle was held raising £260 which will be donated to the MCF 2021 Festival in due course.
With the evening coming to a close, Mark thanked everyone for supporting the ladies night and wished everyone a safe journey home
