The companions of Chorley Chapter No 6287 were honoured by the presence of Barry Jameson. Barry was accompanied by Chorley group vice chairman Peter Allen, group secretary Don Hesketh and acting Provincial officers Alan Jones, Rey Morris and Stuart Sutherland.
In a fine ceremony Peter Horgan installed Chris Peters into the first principal’s chair, Chris installed Simon Dalley into the second principal’s chair and Simon installed Derek Whittle into the third principal’s chair. The scarlet robe was presented by Don Hesketh, the purple robe was delivered by Andrew Cogle and the blue robe was presented by Eric Kos.
Barry brought greetings from the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison. Barry congratulated Chris, Simon and Derek on attaining their respective chairs. Barry also congratulated Peter Horgan for the fine style in which he installed his successor and for his leadership during his year as first principal. Barry also congratulated the ever watchful eye of director of ceremonies Rey Morris and assistant director of ceremonies John Bicknell. Barry thanked the companions for their donations of £100 to Derian House and £100 to the Friends of Ecclesholme.
At the festive board, which was a very happy and convivial meal, Barry recommended support of a new charity which enabled disabled or mentally handicapped people to get out for a day’s fishing. He also recommended support for the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival. He explained that the enhanced exaltation in the Royal Arch should be considered as the fourth and final step in craft Freemasonry.
A very good rendition of the song to the three principals was sung by John Darrell accompanied by Mike Hatton. An excellent evening with good food, good wine and good friends, new and old, was had by all.
