It was a glorious sunny day for a game of bowls at the annual Chorley and District bowls competition that was held at the Rivington Village Bowling Club. Nestled on the north embankment of the Rivington Reservoir, the Rivington Bowling Club, bar and tea room is steeped in local history at the heart of this area of outstanding natural beauty. There is no better place to enjoy a few ends of bowls.
The competition was fierce with the eventual winners being:
Cheryl Hicks who won the Leonard Holt Trophy for the ladies.
Pete Schofield won the Oliver Hart Challenge Trophy after a tight match with Mike Silver who received the James Greeley Memorial Cup.
Chairman of the Chorley and District Group Peter Lockett said that it had been a very enjoyable day and thanked all those who had been involved in organising the competition. He was also hearty in his congratulations of the winners.
Following the hard-fought matches, competitors and spectators retired to the bar to round off a very enjoyable day.
