Martin Stewart has been the WM of Lodge of Chivalry No 3974 since October 2019 and throughout his time as WM he has held lodge social evenings. During the lockdown regular Zoom meetings were held, one of the most popular was the Zoom race night.
Since the restart of the lodge post COVID-19 Martin has held two socials – a ‘Christmas Ladies to Dine’ and a ‘Sunday Lunch’. These events have proved very successful and have enabled several of the new members to meet the members and their partners in a social setting. They have been one of the key reasons for the seven new members that have joined the lodge this season.
Martin, who does not really need a reason to go to social, (he has attended many Ladies Evenings with his wife Karen), used the fact that the lodge has another new member waiting to join the lodge as soon as the lodge has a spare night! He decided to hold third social event at the Sing Faye Chinese Restaurant in St Helens. 20 people attended including Guillermo Moreno and his wife Erika and their 4-month-old baby girl.
The evening was a great success with everyone saying how good the banquet was and how much they enjoyed talking to new and old friends. A raffle for a bottle of sake, a painted set of chop sticks and a miniature rose, raised £90 for the lodge social fund. At the end of the evening everyone agreed they would be back next year for another lodge social, if not before with other friends to enjoy the wonderful food and service.
