The room was full to capacity at Bryn Masonic Hall for the special Valentine’s dinner, organised by resident caterers and stewards Christine and Phil Hughes, for members of the lodges that meet at Bryn Masonic Hall and their guests. A romantic ambience, fit for the occasion, was created by the candlelight setting and the five wonderful courses with an Italian theme gave the diners a culinary delight.
Antipasti got the ball rolling, with a variety of cold meats and Parma ham, with cheeses and olives, crusty and Italian bread and rocket salad, accompanied by a crisp yet fruity white wine. Homemade minestrone soup followed, sprinkled with parmesan. The main course was strips of steak in a red wine and mushroom sauce, vegetables and penne pasta, washed down with a very smooth Rioja. A delicately flavoured crème brûlée gave the sweet touch before a cheese board served with LBV port. Coffee, mints and brandy finished off the perfect meal.
Following a fine meal entertainment was provided by the Sensations, a musical male duo. They sang songs that spanned the generations and kept the dance floor buzzing all night, a wonderful time was had by all.
