The installation meeting of Barrow Chapter No 3928 saw Bob Brady take the chair of first principal. It is his second visit to that post as he undertook the role in 2004.
Witnessing proceedings as representative of the Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison was Michael Davies Past Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals. He was accompanied by group chairman Alan Jones along with three acting officers in the persons of John Torrance, David Smith and Alan Procter.
Paul Heavyside and Bill Glassey retained the chairs of second and third principals and were so declared. Paul’s unavailability saw Tony Cassels standing in as second principal for the night.
Although on the evening the ceremonial part of the proceedings was fairly brief, nonetheless installing first principal George Manderson ensured that the ceremony maintained a great deal of dignity.
During Bob’s first term of office as first principal of Barrow Chapter he exalted three companions and his planned programme for the coming year follows a similar pattern. With two re-joining members also successfully balloted for on the night the chapter is certainly going in the right direction.
At the conclusion of the installation ceremony Bob presented Michael with a cheque as a charity donation from the companions of the chapter for £200 in favour of the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. Michael thanked the companions of the chapter on behalf of the recipients for their generosity.
Following the formalities over 50 members and their guests enjoyed the installation banquet in the Fairfield Suite at Barrow in Furness Masonic Hall.
