Marina Sands Junior Football Club in Hightown was set up in 2007 based on the ethos that ‘every child could take part regardless of gender, religion, background or ability.’ The club motto is ‘enjoy, develop and do your best.’ Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength, with a win of five to three in the team’s latest game.

The under nine’s team was started in 2018 and has performed amazingly since its formation and is due to compete in the Prescot League in May. The WM of Aughton Lodge No 7996 of the Ormskirk and Bootle Group Mike Trigg asked the brethren if they would consider sponsoring the team by providing warm coats as part of the lodge’s ‘working in the community’ initiative.
This was duly passed by the brethren and the coats were presented to the team by Mike Trigg. The team, coaching staff and parents were extremely grateful to the members of Aughton Lodge for their generous sponsorship of the clothing.
WM Mike Trigg and Regional Charity Steward Malcolm Sandywell enjoyed watching the game on a chilly day which saw the coats being worn and the team winning five – three.
