The members and guests of Wilderswood Chapter No 5932 were honoured by the presence of the Chairman of Leyland Group Chris Blackwell, along with fellow grand officer Ken Shaw and secretary of Chorley and District Group Don Hesketh, together with group treasurer Mike Silver and acting Provincial grand officers.
On opening the chapter, the soon to be immediate past first principal Peter Schofield welcomed the principal guests and all the visiting companions and then went on to thank everyone in Wilderswood Chapter for the great year he had had as first principal.
Peter went on to install David Boylin in the first principal’s chair, ably assisted by Jim Jackson and Paul Webb as installing second and third principals. Then in due form, Clive Butterworth and Don Vinten were installed as second and third principals respectively in what can only be described as a very well delivered and most sincere ceremony.
The address to the principals was perfectly given by Jim Jackson, the address to the officers by Ken Shaw, and the address to the companions by Chris Blackwell. The robe addresses were given by Jim Jackson (first principal), Paul Webb (second principal) and John Dawber (third principal).
At the conclusion of the ceremony David presented Chris with cheques totalling £500, comprising of £300 for the Masonic Charitable Foundation 2021 Festival and £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support and £100 for Kids Together (a local charity and support group in Horwich). Chris went on to thank the companions most sincerely on behalf of those who will ultimately benefit from their generosity.
At the close of the chapter the companions retired to enjoy the traditional toasting of the newly installed principals and went on to enjoy a happy and relaxed festive board.
