If you were going to organise a social in October then you might want a nice warm theme, and that is exactly what Eddie Atherton, the first principal of Corinthian Chapter No 2350 and Stanley Fairhurst, chapter charity steward, both thought when they came up with the idea of staging a Hawaiian evening.

After a long period of closure, Hindley Masonic Hall opened its doors once again, for the first time since lockdown, to welcome Corinthian Chapter No 2350 with an extremely loud ‘Aloha’.
Guests and companions were invited to dress for the occasion and don their most colourful shirts and put on garlands of flowers known as ‘lei’ which were provided by the chapter. After initial greetings and Hawaiian welcomes everybody settled down to a spectacular three course dinner. The evening progressed with singing and dancing lead by entertainer Kevin Anthony and eventually it was Roy Brookes who the judges awarded a fine bottle of whisky to for his extravagant and elaborately flowered shirt.
During the evening the companions raised a fantastic £305, which the chapter charity steward will be sending to the MCF 21 to top up the final count for the 2017/21 Festival.
As they left Hindley Masonic Hall later in the evening, the companions, wives, partners and friends all reflected on an enjoyable, fun evening and commented on how wonderful it had been to meet with old and new companions and friends once again.
