A new Empire emerges

Empire Chapter No 3257 which was consecrated in 1922 held its annual installation ceremony at Liverpool Masonic Hall, Hope Street. The principal guest Paul Shepherd was accompanied by Liverpool Group Vice Chairman Dave Kemp, Michael Hilton Provincial Grand Standard Bearer and Dave Potts, who like Paul, is an officer of Supreme Grand Chapter. Incidentally both Dave Potts and Mike Hilton are subscribing members of Empire Chapter.

Under the control of director of ceremonies Geoff Bell an installation ceremony took place which can only be described as being the envy of many, completed flawlessly without any reference to books or notes needed. The outgoing first principal installed Ken Jones as his successor, while Bill Griffiths moved to second principal and Graham Benson moving up to third principal from sojourner. The robe addresses were given in order by John Jackson, Ken Jones and Joe Comerford, all impeccably flawless in delivery.

On completion of the ceremony Paul Shepherd conveyed the best wishes of the Provincial Grand Superintendent Tony Harrison and then congratulated the chapter on their high standard of ritual which had been an absolute pleasure to behold. Ken Jones then presented a cheque to Paul on behalf of the companions for just over £141 in favour of West Lancashire Freemason’s Charity. Paul thanked Ken and the companions and said this was a perfect example of how the use of gift aid envelopes helped enhance the charitable giving by a quarter. On closing the chapter the companions retired to the banqueting suite where they toasted the new principals before being seated to partake in an excellent festive board.
