Neighbours meet the Freemasons
Residents near the new Masonic Hall in Sefton Road, Litherland were invited to visit the building and meet their new neighbours, the Bootle Group of Lodges and Chapters. The Freemasons moved from their old home in Balliol Road, Bootle, following a compulsory purchase order to make way for a major new housing development.
The Group’s search for suitable new premises led to more than 30 buildings in the area being looked at. It was, however, the Litherland location, a former wine bar, which proved most suitable. Work on conversion began earlier last year and the Hall was formerly opened by the Provincial Grand Master.
With the location being primarily in a residential area it was decided to introduce the neighbours to the Masonic Hall. A large number attended and were shown around the building with the opportunity being taken to dispel the myths about Freemasonry and describe the charitable aid it provides both internationally and for the community.
Amongst the many visitors were local councillor Kevin Cluskey and his wife, Chief Superintendent Mark Matthews the Area Commander for Sefton and Dave Formby the Neighbourhood Inspector for Netherton and Litherland.

NEW HALL FOR BOOTLE GROUP
The new Masonic Hall for the Bootle Group was formally opened by the
the Provincial Grand Master at a dedication ceremony on September 14.
The previous hall had been the home of the Bootle Group from 1929 and was demolished following a compulsory purchase order served to allow major
redevelopment in the Bootle area.
The new hall, situated in Litherland, a few miles to the north, and conveniently close to the M57 and M58 motorways, was created by gutting and refurbishing a popular wine bar, one of 36 buildings considered.
In congratulating Peter
Levick, the Bootle Group Chairman, and his steering group, the Provincial Grand Master, Colin Penty Wright, also referred to the tremendous involvement of the various parties involved including the Bootle Hall Committee and Bootle Ladies' Group.
Commenting on the 'Wow!' factor of the new hall he reflected on how
wonderful it was for the building to fit so comfortably and confidently
into the local community and how delighted he was to put the seal on the
great work the Group had done.

Pictured at the opening of the Hall are Ian Gee (Vice-Chairman of the Bootle Group), David McCormick (Assistant Provincial Grand Master); Coin Penty Wright (Provincial Grand Master) and Peter Levick (Chairman of the Bootle Group).
