Group
Structure
The Masonic Province of
West Lancashire, for administrative purposes is spilt into 24 groups.
As there are 511 lodges,
they cannot all be administered centrally from the Masonic Hall at Hope
Street
in Liverpool, the administrative centre, so in 1911 the decision was taken
to split the Province into Groups (originally 22), each headed by a Group
Chairman and supported
by one or two Vice Chairman and a Group Secretary. Some Groups have additional
officers such as a Group Treasurer.
Each of the groups is
responsible for the lodges in a geographical area, the largest being the
Leyland Group, the smallest is the Leigh Group with 7 lodges.
