for good causes as far as the lodge members are concerned, as he delightedly counted up the proceeds from this year’s annual summer event held at their Cleveleys base amounting to £1,400.

Ian said how pleased he was last year with the £1,200 the lodge raised at the event which was also held at Cleveleys Masonic Hall. This year the fundraisers exceeded even that super total through the generosity of members and their families and friends, between downpours. Over the nine years Normoss has staged their summer fete and BBQ a magnificent total of £11,500 has been donated to the lodge’s favourite charity Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Normoss Round Table Lodge has a long association with Rosemere which funds projects across Lancashire and Cumbria to push the boundaries and remain in the forefront in the fight against cancer. Over the years several members of Normoss have been beneficiaries of the care Rosemere provides and the lodge’s fundraising is payback for that extra special care.

The day featured ‘sandcastle mascots’, a tame owls and their handlers display, bouncy castle, raffles and auction as well as a sumptuous BBQ. Ian paid tribute to all the helpers, the social committee and their wives and thanked then for what was a splendid day and a superb result. He hoped that everyone who came along took away good memories and would join the lodge again next year.

WM Phil O’Connor added: “We have had terrific support from our members, their wives and friends and the numbers seem to increase every year. Our local community has stepped in again with donations to the raffle and auctions and even food for the BBQ.

Special thanks must go to our newest member Anthony Aubrey (aka Blackpool comedian Tony Jo) our compere and auctioneer for extracting the maximum amount of money from everyone who attended to secure auction items that simply can’t be found anywhere else but at Normoss Round Table Lodge’s summer BBQ.”
