Peel Moat ‘Mad as Hatters’ for charity

It may be that most lodges are currently in the closed season for business. However, members of Peel Moat Lodge No 7633 are most certainly open for their usual array of social activities.

This was most certainly case at their recent ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ of which even the Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll would have been proud.

The evening featured fun, food, wine and frivolities which were arranged in the uninamitable way as only Peter Beswick (South Eastern Group Secretary) and his wife Helen knows how.

Attending a hotel in Stockport, and all in the name of charity, guests, all wearing hats, were treated to such jovial activities as celebrating the lodge Worshipful Master, Eddie Pratt’s, 27,330 un-birthday of the year, hat making games, raffles, Alice in Wonderland related quiz and competitions.

In keeping with the up and coming Olympics and of course, Alice in Wonderland, there were a series of knock out croquet games with champions of tables attending the queens croquet ground (stage floor) overseen by Peter Beswick, acting as both referee and master of ceremonies for the evening.

The champions, were utilising pink (toy) flamingos as the croquet mallets and (toy) hedgehogs as balls to score a winner, in the end, Phil Gibbs (group vice chairman) was beaten in the final by a stray hedgehog that found its way to a hole aided by his oppositions pink flamingo!

Members of Peel Moat Lodge are renowned for their fun and well supported social evenings, Peter said the evenings gains will add to the lodge charity account of which numerous people will benefit in due course.

One of the lodge members will be hosting a lodge charity barbeque event at his home in the forthcoming weeks.
