Lodge of Sincerity is one of the oldest lodges in the Province, this ancient lodge was founded in 1793 and has met continuously ever since.

The proceedings held in the Adams Suite at Liverpool Masonic Hall commenced with the entrance of Jon Clipsham and Liverpool Group Deputy Chairman Sam Robinson. They were escorted by Grand Officers of Lodge of Sincerity, David McCormick, John Wreyford and Brian Everall and by visiting Grand Officer David Anderton. They were preceded by the lodge deacons and by Provincial Grand Steward Geoff Cuthill together with other senior Past Provincial Grand Officers in a most dignified procession.

Jon said the installation ceremony was conducted in a most professional and sincere manner by the immediate past and installing master, Derek Challinor. Lodge of Sincerity use Emulation working with a few unique variations. For example, past masters of the lodge are addressed as ‘brother past master’ whilst past masters of other lodges are addressed as ‘worshipful brother’ in the usual way. The explanations of the working tools of the third and second degrees were rendered by David Sullivan whilst the first degree explanation, again unique to Lodge of Sincerity, was given by Inner Guard Joshua Sendall. The lodge was closed in each degree in the full version seldom seen these days. It is most refreshing to report that the quality of ritual given, especially by WM Glyn Pine and Derek was of the highest standard.

With Glyn safely installed into the Chair of King Solomon for a second continuous year and his officers invested, Jon rose and congratulated Glyn and passed on hearty greetings and congratulations from the Provincial Grand Master. Jon then wished Glyn a most successful year in office and also congratulated Derek on the standard of the installation.  In response, Glyn presented Jon with cheques on behalf of the brethren of Lodge of Sincerity for significant donations to the Liverpool Masonic Hall Building Fund and to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. Jon thanked the lodge and said these are wonderful contributions to most deserving causes.  He went on to reaffirm the importance of supporting the hall which is the home of Liverpool Freemasonry.

The ceremony completed, Jon and his entourage processed from the lodge after what had been a most enjoyable evening in the lodge to a sumptuous festive board.
