Brigantes Chapter No 9734, held its fifth regular convocation on 21 January 2012, at Kendal Masonic Hall.
The programme was originally quite simple, the delivery of the Historical, Mystical and Symbolical Lectures to the companions who have been exalted during the last twelve months.

Peter Mason with the Provincial rulers.
Then, there was a development! Peter Mason who is one of the founding members, had been appointed Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals in the Province of Cumberland and Westmoreland and needed to be invested as such. The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent of Cumberland and Westmoreland, Norman James Thompson decided to invest Peter in his own chapter and the investiture was added to the programme.
The chapter was duly opened at 4pm on the appointed day. The minutes were confirmed and a ballot was held for a prospective candidate for exaltation, which proved in favour. Then the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, Barry Bower entered the Chapter. The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent was then received into the Chapter and on being offered the sceptre, he retained it. The Provincial Second and Third Grand Principals took their chairs and an especial convocation of Provincial Grand Chapter was opened.
The Grand Superintendent explained that for a number of reasons, he had been unable to invest E. Comp. Peter John Lightburn, PGStdB as a Past Provincial Third Grand Principal and that he was delighted to do so on this occasion. Following that investiture, The Grand Superintendent told the Companions that he would now invest E. Comp. Peter Mason as the Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals. He explained that E. Comp. Mason is an extremely dedicated and knowledgeable companion and that he had been and would continue to be of great assistance to the Province. The investiture took place and the Provincial Grand Chapter was closed.

The three Principals with the Provincial rulers.
The three principals of the Chapter resumed their chairs and then the companions of the Chapter delivered the historical lectures. This was carried out by a total of 12 companions, all of whom had a small part each to learn and deliver. It was a most enjoyable experience for the participating companions and visiting companions. The sharing of work is very much part of the ethos of Brigantes Chapter and the members have found it to be an interesting and enjoyable concept.
The social board following the convocation was attended by the ladies (as is normal for this Chapter) with some 64 companions and ladies enjoying the meal.
